Viscoplastic cyclic degradation model for soft natural soils

Cyclic loading affects the long-term response of geostructures build on natural soils. Soft soils are particularly susceptible to development large deformations, induced by repetitive nature loading. A new viscoplastic cyclic accumulation model is presented, which an hierarchical extension Creep-SClay1S model, permanent deformation resulting from undrained soft clays. The cumulative strains incorporated means additional multiplier. This multiplier adds four parameters that derived triaxial tests. calibrated using experimental data tests performed high quality block samples Onsøy clay, at different average shear stresses, stress amplitudes and periods. accuracy proposed demonstrated comparing element level simulations with data. applicability further illustrated a boundary value problem, where embankment submitted simulated. use enables simulation loaded foundations soils, serviceability limit state over long period time governing design.
